Hello and welcome to episode 24 of The Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings Podcast with Blake Soulet!
Do you want to be Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings by doing things that you’ve dreamt of? I do. Let’s connect and FLY Together.
On today’s episode I talk about a topic that was inspired by a conversation I had with my cousin Krystal yesterday, after the Mother’s Day dinner. She talked about “It is what it is.”
It felt like I must share this with my FLY Zone because I find the phrase so relieving, as it is applicable to everyday life.
This episode is about adjusting your mindset in situations that bother you.
I only give a few stories in which it would make sense to use the phrase, but another story that I feel is important is the one that happens in your life.
Maybe you’re a student, and you did not do so hot on your last test, even though you worked your butt off studying for it. Do you let that get you bogged down or do you accept it for what it is and take the necessary actions to improve so that you do better on the next one?
Maybe your an employee and you work at a horrible job that you come home and complain about everyday. You can either keep doing that until you’re blue in the face, or accept it for what it is, and stop hoping for it to be what it isn’t. In this case, the best thing for you to do is to leave that job because it is not beneficial to your well-being.
Maybe you’re Fulfilling your Life’s Yearnings, and whatever you were doing did not go as planned. You could let that affect you negatively and never do it again, or accept it for what it was, an experience that you learned from, to help you do better the next time.
I could go on and on, but I feel that you get the point.
Life is about accepting things for what they are, instead of trying to make sense of everything that does not fit into your worldview of how things are supposed to go. Instead, you must do what is in your best interest. That could be Fulfilling your Life’s Yearnings, which in turn would be increasing your well-being.
“It Is What It Is” is a mindset that will save you headache and heartache from things that are not worth the attention. Accepting that it is what it is for things that you cannot control and focusing on what you can control, will do wonders for you!
I would love to hear what you think. Does this work for you? If not, what does?
